Dr. Revankar has about eight years' experience in Cardiology, and is proficient in invasive procedures such as angiography and angioplasty with stenting (via the radial and femoral routes), temporary and permanent pacemaker implantation, percutaneous balloon valvuloplasty (mitral, aortic and pulmonary), pediatric catheterisation, trans catheter device closure of ASD/PDA, basic EP studies, IABP insertion and ventilator management. Dr. Revankar is experienced in all non-invasive procedures as well, including TMT, TEE, TTE, echo (adult and pediatric echo studies) and contrast echo.
Dr. Revankar headed the Department of Cardiology at Sapthagiri Superspeciality Hospital and Medical Research Centre in Bangalore from January 2012. He gained much experience at Sapthagiri, as the hospital has a dedicated cardiology and cardiothoracic department with 100 beds, and is well equipped with modern equipment incorporating the latest technology. An average of 70 catheterisations were being done per month, covering the entire range of interventional procedures. At Sapthagiri, Dr. Revankar developed a special interest in neonatal and pediatric echocardiograms and in diagnosing simple and complex congenital heart disease.
Earlier, Dr. Vinod Revankar worked as HOD - Department of Cardiology at the Dr. Kole Heart Institute and Medical Research Centre in Kolhapur for a year from 2010 to 2011, and the KLES Heart Foundation in Belgaum from 2007 to 2010. For the postdoctoral, super-specialisation DNB exam, Dr. Revankar underwent three years' training at Narayana Hrudayalaya Hospital in Bangalore from 2004 to 2007. He served as Senior Registrar in the department of Cardiology during the training. He assisted in the Cath Lab and independently performed procedures such as CAG, PTCA with stenting, temporary and permanent pacemaker implantation, percutaneous mitral, aortic, pulmonary balloon valvotomy, transcatheter device closures of ASD, PDA, pediatric catheterisation, IABP insertion and management, and basics of EP study.
